Iliana Peters, a recognized data privacy and security expert and leading speaker on HIPAA, HITECH, the 21st Century Cures Act, GINA, FERPA, and data security compliance, is widely known in the healthcare industry as a leading thinker and speaker on data privacy and security, with deep expertise in federal and state privacy laws, emerging cyber threats, and health data protection. For many years, she developed information privacy and security policy for the Department of Health and Human Services, while coordinating with the Department of Justice, Department of Education, other federal agencies, State Attorneys General, and the White House. She also played a major role in enforcing HIPAA regulations, including leading multimillion-dollar settlement agreements and civil money penalties. Iliana has trained professionals across both the public and private sectors, including compliance investigators, auditors, and State Attorneys General, on privacy regulations and security practices. Today, she works closely with clients on complex compliance issues, incident response, investigations, training, and litigation support related to privacy, security, and breach claims.
